_VOICE IC (MC93CV401, 402) are released.

Based on the 8051 Core + DSP technology, MC93CV40x series provides
not only ADPCM Codec but also SPEEX Codec (one of CELP series)
what was not provided by other 8bit voice ICs.
SPEEX codec is more complex to apply but it can provide more
efficient compression ratio and good quality in comparison with
ADPCM codec. SPEEX codec provides max 4 times higher compression
ratio than ADPCM. So it is possible to reduce the memory size and
cost for sound source storage.
Besides it provides ‘Variable Sampling Rate’ and ‘Variable Profile’.
So it can provide variety of sound quality depend on the voice or music type.
And by the ‘Mutil-rate Playback’ function, it can play both ADPCM and SPEEX
sound what has different sampling rate at the same time.
For example it can play ADPCM background music and SPEEX voice at the same time.
In order to reduce the outside circuit, it has ‘Digital Amp’ inside.
So it can play high quality sound and control 256 volume levels without extra AMP-IC.
It has applied to variety applications like cooker, GPS receiver, e-book, security system, etc.
And we expect that the application area is growing up based on the growing quality of
home appliances.
It is provided with a GUI tool for generating a sound source table for user convenience.
So we expect that it can increase the sales in the domestic area but also in overseas areas
like Japan or Chinese.
