Remote Control MCU
IR Remote
"A remote control is an electronic device used for the remote operation of a machine " ( from wikipedia ).

To do this, a remote control emits the signal with ultra-sonic, infrared, radio-frequency. Especially 'infrared' is most widly used for a remote control for various home-appliances like TV, DVD and air-conditioner, etc.

To meet this requirements, ABOV provides various MCUs that is suitable for infrared remote control.
Remote Control MCU
The ABOV‘s remote control MCU provides appropriate features for an infrared remote control.
Remote signal output
In order to generate a control signal, it is required to generate a carrier signal and modulate a control data on it. ABOV's remote control MCU supports both functions internally. And we call it as a 'remote signal output' function.
Low power consumption
ABOV's remote control MCU provides a low power operation mode. It make it possible to use a remote control for one year with one AA or AAA battery.
Key-scan interrupt
It is required to wake up the MCU from low power mode when user press a button. After processing the key function, it backs to low power mode immediately.
Simple Board Solution
It provides a more simple board solution. Because It has a transistor used to drive a IR-LED, oscilator and reset circuit internally. So please check it, when you choose a MCU for your remote control.

Universal Remote MCU

A universal remote MCU is not only used for a remote control. Because it has variety functions inside. For example, the MCU what has LCD driver is designed for like a air-conditioner what requires both remote controlling and displaying some infomation. But it is also suitable for a kind of battery-operated sensor module. Because of it's low power mode, ADC and LCD driver features.

It can also used for a learning remote what can learn new remote signal pattern and regenerate it.

Unified
Remote
8 bit Core
- Rom : 4k~32k byte
- Ram : 320~448 byte
- Pkg : 20~44 pin
Unified Remote MCU

A unified remote is a remote control that can be programmed to operate various brands of one or more types of consumer electronics devices. We also call it MBR(Multi Brand Remote).

It requires more memory size and high speed than single remote control. Because it has to store various control infomations and use it selectively.
Single
Remote
4 bit Core
- Rom : 0.5k~1K byte
- Ram : 32 nibble
- Pkg : 16~24 pin
Single Remote MCU

Single remote control is a remote control that can control only one machine like a TV, VTR or a audio.
A 4 bit MCU is normally used for a single remote control. Because it has good enough perfomance for singel remote control and is inexpensive.
