LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) |
A LCD(liquid crystal display) is a thin, flat display device
made up of any number of color or monochrome pixels arrayed in front of a light source or reflector.
It is often utilized in battery-powered electronic devices because it uses very small amounts of electric power.
( from wikipedia )
Each pixel of LCD is getting dark or bright when electric power is supplied to it.
At this point, the electric power's voltage level must be changed cotinuously to display it.
Therefor an appropriate driver is used to display a LCD.
A LCD MCU has a special LCD driver circuit internally.
Therefor we do not need a extra driver circuit outside.
Because of this advantage, a LCD MCU is widly used to portable equipment which needs a simple display.

LCD Driver
|
|
ABOV's LCD MCU has a LCD driver circuit inside.
So it is usuful for such a digital watch which uses a custom LCD.
|
Low power consumption
|
ABOV's LCD MCU provides low power mode operations(SLEEP, STOP mode).
It is useful, because most devices with LCD display are battery powered.
|
General MCU functions
|
ABOV's LCD MCU is based on general MCU functions such as ADC, PWM, Timer.
So, it is useful for various control systems which needs both control and display.

Recommended MCU |
| * LCD |
MC80F7708 :
42 ~44 pin
8k FLASH
20 ~ 16seg * 4 ~8 com LDC Driver
Sub Clock
ISP

It support 8 COM LCD and operating with sub oscillator.
So it is good for like a watch which needs real time clock and battery operation.

| * Universal Remote |
MC80F7x32 Series :
64 ~ 80 pin
32k FLASH
32(24) seg * 4 com LCD Driver

MC80F7632/7532 has a LCD driver and remote output function.
Besides it has general MCU's functions such as 10 bits PWM and ADC, 8/16 bits Timers, serial comunications... etc.
So it can be used various applications with UART and SPI function.
